Route mapping

Campaign routes are lines of activity that carry the campaign towards its aim via series of linked objectives or milestones. Identify three (if you can) opening routes your campaign can take. These routes may be independent of each other or may form a tactical network. Good route maps feel "natural" to the subject of the campaign and lend themselves to early objective setting. If you can't set clear initial objectives for a proposed route, then drop it. Think of routes as lines of engagement that can draw in different actors and audiences.

Don't expect to be able to fully define your route maps when you start out on your campaign. The routes unfold as you make progress and the world of the campaign responds. Remember, you are travelling through a dynamic environment, not a static one. See objectives assessment and critical path building in the observatory.
